Saints Markella and Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church - Greek Festival

Flag Raising Ceremony at Uptown Station in honor of Patriot Day

Uptown Station is home to Florida's tallest flagpole (170-feet). A Flag Raising Ceremony will be held at 12pm on September 10th in honor of Patriot Day (nationally commemorated on September 11th). Please join the Honor Guard walk the 50' x 80' Stars and Stripes down the length of Central Park, and hoist the flag in a solemn and moving ceremony.

This change in location positions the festival amid Destin's fishing docks, and the change in dates makes it a true kick off to the Destin Fishing Rodeo, which takes place the entire month of October. The Destin Fishing Rodeo is open to all angler's fishing aboard a registered boat in the rodeo. Weigh-ins occur each day on the docks at A.J.'s Seafood & Oyster Bar from 10am - 7pm. More than 30,000 angleres compete through the month of October and more than $100,000 in cash and prizes are awarded. There will be daily, weekly and overall prizes. There will also be Junior, Teen, Ladies and Senior Divisions. Virtually every gamefish is recognized with awards during the Rodeo.
