This 8.5-mile paved trail winds through the town of Milton and ends at Whiting Field Naval Air Station. It is available for biking, running, walking, roller-skating, and horseback riding. Other popular activities are picnicking and bird watching. Motorized vehicles are no permitted on the trail. The trailhead is located on the corner of Highway 87 and U.S. Highway 90 in Milton and contains a covered picnic shelter, restrooms, a water fountain, and a bicycle rack. The visitor center is approximately one mile from the trailhead and offers two picnic tables and parking. The Blackwater Heritage Trail State Trail Citizen Support Organization operates a concession at the visitor center where snacks and souvenirs can be purchased. Benches have been located at various points along the trail for visitor convenience. The equestrian parking lot is located about halfway along the trail and can be reached by vehicle along Munson Highway (RT 191). There is ample oversized parking available, as well as a newly constructed picnic shelter. Bring plenty of water with you because there are no facilities available north of the visitor center.
