Baytowne Wharf Beer Fest + Beach = Perfect Fall Getaway

by Darcie Plowden on May 16th, 2015

Baytown Wharf Beer Fest in Destin, FloridaSummer has yet to begin, and I’m dreaming of a fall beach trip! The Baytowne Wharf Beer Fest at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is what started this train of thought.

The festival touts 200-plus beers to sample and live music to enjoy — enough said: I’ll be there this fall for Beer Fest October 16 and 17. Can’t you just imagine a beautiful fall afternoon strolling around the village, beer in hand? Sounds perfect!

Where’s the Crowd?

Not Here in the Fall. I will confess that fall has always been one of my favorite times to visit the Gulf Coast. Often during summer trips, I’ve found myself making a list of restaurants to try when I come back in the fall. The crowds are drastically diminished — and I swear the seafood tastes even better! The weather is superb, with Baytowne Beer Fest features over 200 varieties of beercrystal-clear blue skies and virtually no humidity. I’m betting the weekend of October 16 and 17 will be plenty warm for beach fun — it will seem as if you have the beautiful sugar-white sand all to yourself. Best of all, rental rates are lower during fall than during peak summer season. And, you can save more than $50 on accommodations and tickets and when you book the Sandestin Beer Fest Package. Village Studios start at only $159, and LeCiel Studios start at $145 when you use promo code BEER14.

Sooo Many Beers!

Spend the day at the festival, and you’ll enjoy a wide range of beers with varying strengths and styles from light pale ales to rich dark stouts, along with a number of bottled and yet-to-be-released fall beers. All ticketholders will be provided a Baytowne Wharf Beer Fest tasting glass for sampling. More than 40 breweries will be offering 200-plus varieties to sample.  Check out the LONG list of beers featured at Beer Fest for 2015.

Sandestin's Village of Baytowne Wharf at nightIf you haven’t yet visited Baytowne, you’ll love the combo of shops, restaurants, bars, and activities. Whether or not we stay in Sandestin, we always stop by Baytowne when we’re in the area. The grilled oysters at Acme Oyster House are a favorite for lunch! While Beer Fest is obviously geared for those of us of legal age, you’ll find plenty of kid-friendly activities in Baytowne, especially in the Adventure Zone.

Pack an extra bag—you’re staying longer

A weekend may not be long enough for a fall beach getaway. Go ahead and plan to stay an extra day or two so you’ll have time for bike riding, fishing, dolphin cruises, parasailing, golf, and relaxing on some of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
