Big Lagoon State Park

Big Lagoon State Park sits along the northern shoreline of its namesake lagoon, with 655 acres of protected land separating the mainland from Perdido Key and the Gulf of Mexico. This scenic park is known for its diverse natural landscapes, including saltwater marshes, pine flatwoods, and coastal habitats that attract a wide variety of wildlife, especially birds during spring and fall migration seasons.

Visitors can enjoy everything from relaxing on quiet beaches and exploring shallow bays to hiking scenic nature trails and spotting wildlife throughout the park. Big Lagoon is also a great spot for outdoor activities like kayaking, fishing, boating, swimming, and camping. Crabbing in the shallow waters is a local favorite and a fun way to experience the area.

For a more laid-back visit, the West Beach picnic area offers shaded spots under pines and oaks, making it the perfect place to unwind and take in the natural beauty of Florida’s Gulf Coast.
